One urban area, two councils

The ABS counts the twin cities as a single urban area, Albury - Wodonga, which had 97,793 residents at the 2021 Census and a median age of 38. We take enquiries from the New South Wales side and the Victorian side alike, and each one goes to a single local personal trainer. Put your suburb or town and your state on the form so the request lands with someone who can reach you.

Parks on the Albury side are looked after by AlburyCity, while Wodonga Council manages its own. The details below come from each council in turn.

Personal training in AlburyCity parks

AlburyCity lists personal training as one of the commercial activities operators can apply to run in Council-managed parks and reserves. It has set aside designated public spaces in high profile areas where operators can set up for personal training, as well as for mobile food vending and canoeing. A trainer who works in an Albury park will have dealt with that application, so it is fine to ask where they hold their sessions.

Free equipment across Albury

The Thurgoona Outdoor Fitness Zone is complete and open, with ten items of exercise equipment, shade sails and a drinking fountain. Access is free, and AlburyCity has built similar fitness areas in East Albury, South Albury and at Noreuil Park. That spread means many households have outdoor gear within a short drive.

Paths and parks in Wodonga

Wodonga Council says the city has more than 80 km of bike and walking paths, which leaves a trainer room for a walk-and-talk session or an interval loop. At Willow Park there is fitness equipment along the path, with parking off Pearce Street.

A driving region

At the 2021 Census, 70.1% of employed people in Albury - Wodonga drove a car to work. If your week already involves plenty of time behind the wheel, a trainer who comes to you takes one trip off the list, as mobile personal training explains. Otherwise, choose the park nearest your home or work.
