The Trading Permit for parks and reserves
The City of Greater Geraldton requires a Trading Permit whenever someone wants to sell or hire goods or services on City owned or managed land, such as parks, reserves or other public places. Permits are issued under the Public Places and Local Government Property Local Law 2020, and each one allows up to three approved locations with non-exclusive use of the space. Holders must carry public liability insurance. Paid training in a park falls under this, so ask your trainer which locations their permit names.
Not on the foreshore
Trading under these permits is excluded from the Geraldton and Beresford foreshores because of existing lease and licence agreements (City of Greater Geraldton). That rules them out for paid sessions, though you are of course free to walk or run there on your own.
Along the Chapman River
The Chapman River Regional Park already has an 11km loop trail along the river, which the City plans to formalise for shared use. Closer to town, recently completed shared paths include Glenfield Beach Drive, Chapman Road and Sail Boulevard to Corallina Quays (getting around). Grounds are another option: the City's sporting facilities go mostly to clubs, but other groups may be able to hire them outside those bookings.
Walking with others first
The QEII Seniors and Community Centre's March 2026 timetable listed a free early walk group on Tuesdays and pole walking on Wednesdays. If you are over 50 and easing into exercise, a walking group and a few one-on-one sessions make a good pairing.
Geraldton questions
Can I train with someone on the Geraldton foreshore?
Not in a paid session under a City Trading Permit, because the Geraldton and Beresford foreshores are excluded. A trainer can suggest an approved park nearby.
Do you cover Drummond Cove and Mount Tarcoola?
Yes, and Bluff Point, Spalding and Wandina too. Add your suburb to the form.
