Students, families and new arrivals
Indooroopilly had 13,622 residents at the 2021 Census and a median age of 33. The university next door shows in the numbers: 11.7% of residents were aged 20 to 24, nearly double the Queensland share. 7.0% were born in China and 5.3% in India, far above the state figures of 1.1% and 1.4%. Housing is split almost evenly between flats (45.4%) and separate houses (46.7%), so trainers here work in backyards and apartment gyms in equal measure.
Keating Park's next chapter
The council's Keating Park upgrade lists individual fitness equipment, a fenced multi-use sports court, new shelters and better paths among its planned features, with the first stage expected to start in mid-2027. The park is also the starting point of the Indooroopilly Heritage Trail, which the council warns has some steep sections. Until the new equipment arrives, the hills themselves are the training tool.
Along the river
Lambert Road and Witton Road connect residents to the riverfront, and the council's proposed Indooroopilly Bikeway would improve access to the Indooroopilly Riverwalk, local parks and shops. Further stages depend on funding, but the riverwalk is there now for a walk or run that a trainer can build a session around.
Park consent
Brisbane City Council manages more than 2180 parks, and its guideline puts personal training among the activities that need a park use consent, with a fee only for exclusive use of a booking site or some commercial uses. A trainer who meets clients in the same park each week should have that consent in place.

Indooroopilly questions
Is Indooroopilly hilly for running?
Parts of it. The council notes that some sections of the heritage trail from Keating Park are steep, while the riverwalk is the flatter option.
Does a trainer pay to use a council park here?
The council's guideline says a park use consent attracts a fee only for exclusive use of a booking site or some commercial uses. The trainer sorts that out, not you.
